It provides (among other things) a standard set of icons under an open source license. All are available as SVG, as well as being optimized for standard sizes. Beautiful stuff.
I’m also a big fan of the Tango Color Palette, which is Public Domain. This weekend I started making use of it to do a Tango Theme for jQuery UI.

You can type something like “c” or “<” and it will display all the HTML Character Entities that look like what you typed. Handy. And it uses my new favorite JavaScript library, jQuery.
I’ve been looking for a high-quality free icon set for a while. I recently happened on this one, called Silk, by a designer named Mark James (FAMFAMFAM):
